for easy removal of the rocker arm and valve play compensator, connected to hydraulic tappets, on GM (Vauxhall/Opel) OHC engines preventing the need to remove the camshaft. By compressing the valve and spring the rocker arm can be removed and also the valve play compensator.

Without this tool, the camshaft carrier will need to be removed, which would mean replacing the cylinder head gasket.
