- Nissan Almera N16 From August 2002
- Nissan Almera Tino V10 from February 2003
- Nissan Primera P12 from December 2001.
This part is also known by the following article numbers:
- 16119-AU000
- 16119-AU003
- 16119-AU00A
- 16119-AU00B
This is position number 2 on the drawing.
If sold out, you can also opt for a new product.
Important conditions before the procedure (preconditioning):
- Engine warm (coolant ~80-95°C, after a drive).
- Battery well charged (>12.9V at idle).
- No active fault codes (check and clear with an OBD scanner if necessary).
- Air conditioning, rear window defroster, headlights, radio, etc. off (no additional load).
- Steer straight (wheels straight ahead).
- Put the car in P (automatic) or neutral with the handbrake on.
- Use a stopwatch (timing is crucial!).
- The engine should not stutter or stall during this process.
Standard Nissan "pedal dance" relearn procedure for QG16DE/QG18DE
Perform the steps in this order:
- Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning
- Fully release the accelerator pedal.
- With the ignition on (do not start), wait at least 2 seconds.
- With the ignition off, wait at least 10 seconds.
- Repeat this 1-2 times (often twice to be sure).
Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning
- Release the accelerator pedal.
- With the ignition on (do not start), wait 2-3 seconds.
- With the ignition off, wait at least 10 seconds. You'll hear the throttle motor ticking/turning (this is normal; the ECU is learning the closed position).
- Idle Air Volume Learning (the most important step – often called the "pedal dance")
- Engine must be warm.
- Ignition off, wait 10 seconds.
- Ignition on (do not start), wait 3 seconds.
- Within 5 seconds: Quickly depress and release the accelerator pedal 5 times (pumping motion: in-out-in-out-in-out-in-out-in).
- Wait exactly 7 seconds.
- Fully depress and hold the accelerator pedal.
- The engine light (MIL/Check Engine) will start flashing → wait until it stops flashing and remains on steadily (takes 10-20 seconds).
- Within 3 seconds of the light remaining on steadily: release the accelerator pedal.
- Start the engine immediately.
- Idle for at least 30 seconds (do not accelerate!).
The revs should drop steadily to approximately 650-750 rpm (depending on the automatic/manual transmission).
Tips if it doesn't work
Repeat the entire procedure 2-3 times (the timing must be precise – use a stopwatch!).
If the light doesn't respond properly or continues to fluctuate at idle: try an OBD2 scanner with Nissan-specific features (such as "Idle Air Volume Learning" via Consult mode). Tools like Launch, Autel, or a cheap ELM327 with an app (Torque + Nissan plugin) often work.
After the procedure, start the car a few times, warm/cold, and drive a short distance – sometimes the ECU needs to "drive" a bit for fine-tuning.
In some cases, disconnecting the battery for 10-30 minutes before the procedure (resetting the ECU) helps, but this isn't always necessary.
